Head-On Collision on Highway 55

A head-on collision on Highway 55 about halfway between Buffalo and Rockford resulted in the death of a 40-year-old woman from Buffalo last Thursday, Dec. 8, the State Highway Patrol reported.

The incident involved a car and a pickup truck. The car reportedly crossed the centerline when the crash took place at around 5:15 p.m. The driver of the car, Maureen Zinser, 40, of Buffalo, died at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck, Steve Binek, 53, of Plymouth, was transported by ambulance, but he was able to go home later that night, according to a spokesperson at Nelson Building and Development in Buffalo, where Binek works as an architect.

Zinser, who served as the research nurse coordinator at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, is survived by her husband and two children, among others. A celebration of her life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13 in the Peterson Chapel St. Michael-Albertville Funeral Home. Visitation took place from 5–8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12 at the funeral home.
